The US Open 2024 Fan Week Day 2 is in full swing. It's an exciting day to be here at the US Open during fan week. You can enjoy various activities for adults and children, including interviews, and catch your favorite professional tennis players practice in Arthur Ashe Stadium, Louis Armstrong Stadium, Grandstand, or the other courts at the US Open. The players are here this week to practice, but also to qualify and participate to be part of the US Open Tournament starting next Monday, August 26th, 2024.
Experience the grounds with art installations, sponsor spaces, and entertainment throughout the US Open. One of the spaces includes IHG Hotels & Resorts featuring a space recreated to showcase the US Open-inspired hotel rooms you can book at IHG Kimpton Eventi Hotel in Midtown, Manhattan. The IHG Kimpton Eventi Hotel rooms can be booked during the dates of the US Open. People can book the yellow or green rally rooms for a maximum of 2 nights during the US Open Tournament. You could also find a beautiful yellow tennis ball-designed dress by Hsin Ju Chen from FIT School of Art and Design.
Another great space to check out is Tiffany & Co. which features the US Open trophies. The US Open Tiffany & Co. trophies are presented annually to the United States Tennis Association champions. Tiffany & Co. has proudly crafted these trophies for 36 years since 1987.
In the afternoon, the US Open Fan Week Fountain Plaza held karaoke contests, and the crowd was excited singing, dancing, and cheering for their favorite karaoke singer.
At around 4PM, General Mills Wheaties had a very long line giving away 1,000 Wheaties boxes to people who patiently waited in the line. The line went by very quickly as it only took about 10 minutes to give all the 1,000 boxes to the attendees in a specialty Wheaties white oversized clear bag. Gotham Cheer was also at the grounds today, and took a group photo in front of Billie Jean King's box display.
One of the main attractions today was at 4:30PM when NY 1 News Anchor Michelle Yu interviewed Billie Jean King along with the 2023 Women's US Open champion Coco Gauff. The grounds were full of people watching the interview with a very excited crowd. Billie Jean King, and Coco Gauff are both being featured on General Mills Wheaties boxes. You could find both installations on the main grounds in front of Arthur Ashe Stadium. Everyone was excited to pose and capture the moment to keep a memory of both US Open Tennis champions during today's event. Billie Jean King was also ready to pass down the baton to Coco Gauff. They both played against each other on the mini tennis court located on the grounds next to the fountain. It was an excited crowd watching both champs play against each other.
Tonight at Arthur Ashe Stadium at 7PM, they had the US Open Mixed Madness matches presented by IHG Hotels & Resorts. The competitive mixed doubles matches included Coco Gauff/Ben Shelton, Nick Kyrgios/Naomi Osaka, Taylor Fritz/Amanda Anisimova, and Stefano Tsitsipas/Paula Badosa. First Nick Kyrgios and Naomi Osaka played against Taylor Fritz and Amanda Anisimova. It was an entertainment match as both teams were giving their all to win and advance to the final tonight. Taylor Fritz and Amanda Anisimova beat Nick Kyrgios and Naomi Osaka advancing to the finals. The score was Osaka/Kyrgios 2 and Anisimova/Fritz 6.
It was exciting to see both Naomi Osaka and Nick Kyrgios honor Kobe Bryant by both wearing LA Laker's outfits with Bryant's name.
The next teams to play were Ben Shelton and Coco Gauff versus Stefano Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa. It was a fun match to see both teams play but Stefano Tsitsipas and Paula Badosa reing this match to to go the finals. The score was Gauff/Shelton 4 and Tsitsipas/Badosa 6.
