Last night tennis and culinary aficionados experienced a wonderful and decadent night at Cipriani Midtown for the Citi Taste of Tennis event in New York City. The event is a night with tennis players and major chefs offering exquisite tastes of their cuisine in New York City to kick off the US Open Tennis tournament in style. CITI Taste of Tennis is an event produced by AYS Sports Marketing, a women-owned company.
The evening began at 6:00 PM with the Citigold VIP Hour. Attendees who had access to the VIP hour experienced welcome remarks by Prakash Amritraj & Citi Executives and a fireside chat with none other than Serena Williams and Venus Williams. At 6:35 PM the main event opened for Citigold guests and at 7:00 PM Citi Taste of Tennis officially opened.
The red carpet was also in full swing and important guests, including tennis players and celebrities attended. This year, actor and entrepreneur Eva Longoria is a sponsor at CITI Taste of Tennis with her tequila company Casa Del Sol. Eva Langoria served mixed cocktails with the Spanish-Venezuelan professional tennis player Garbiñe Muguruza to guests who attended the event.
The event in full swing was headlined by tennis players Nick Kyrgios and Naomi Osaka and celebrity celebrity Chef Emma Bengtsson who hosted an on-stage cooking demonstration. Chef Emma Bengtsson is the Executive Chef at Aquavit Restaurant. Chefworks outfitted all chefs.
DJ Mad Linx was at the turntables mixing it up for attendees, afterwards, there were live musical performances for people to get on the dance floor and dance the night away.
The evening wouldn't be complete without thanking the sponsors and the 24 chefs serving amazing bites who helped make this lavish event happen. Some sponsors included Amrina the Woodlands, Aquavit, Butterfunk Biscuit Company, Catena Zapata wines, Casa Del Sol Tequila, CITI, Grand Banks Oyster Bar and Galley, Jamaica Tourist Board, Kumi New York, La NewYorkina, Press Club Grill, Lotte New York Palace Hotel, Lucky in Love, Makers Mark, Sipsmith, The Lambs Club, The Twisted Cake, Volkl, and VOSS. A few chefs and restaurants serving it up included Baar Baar Indian Restaurant & Gastro Bar, Chef John Mooney and his restaurant Bell Book & Candle, Fat Fowl Rotisserie, Hard Rock Hotel New York, Nikutei, Pine & Polk, Portale Restaurant, Sona Restaurant, and Yakiniku Futago.
A portion of the proceeds raised at this year’s Citi Taste of Tennis NYC benefitted the New York Junior Tennis and Learning (NYJTL). NYJTL is dedicated to developing the character of young people through tennis and education for a lifetime of success on and off the court. All NYJTL community and after-school programs are offered in all five boroughs at no cost. NYJTL has served 85,000 youth in NYC in 45 years, today NYJTL is the largest non-profit youth tennis program.
