Springs, East Hampton NY
Green afternoon XI
Marcia Priveti and Dallas (her dog) welcomed everyone on the afternoon of Saturday, July 13th to her lovely garden in Springs East Hampton. Flowers of all kinds, shapes, and forms with a sweet smell coming from the ‘’yellow’’ ones, exotic cocktails, and abundant choices of food were part of the celebration of the Green Afternoon XI, a moving installation surrounded by contemporary and eclectic pieces of art accompanied by a spectacular set of Contemporary dancers from Amanda Selwyn Dance Theatre. Amanda creates dynamic dance theater that activates emotional expression in a rich and abstract collage, a few minutes later after a chat with her delightful guests, we went to the main stage to witness one of the best ‘’grass floor’’ performances of modern dance you haven’t seen in a while.
Full of passion and love, well-connected with each other, professional team players, and amazing individuals. Amanda’s dancers communicated connectivity and self-awareness with every single move, and a great selection of music brought more passion to the audience. The message was Life is now.
Habitat Formed premiered at BMCC Tribeca Performing Arts Center as the company’s 24th Annual Performance Season and was created with the support of a 2023-24 CUNY Dance Initiative residency at the BMCC Performing Arts Center, located on the campus of the Borough of Manhattan Community College.
